Terms of Service

Please read these terms carefully before using Expenser. By using our app, you agree to be bound by these terms.

1. Agreement to Terms

By downloading, installing, or using the Expenser mobile application ("App"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree to these Terms, please do not use the App.

These Terms constitute a legally binding agreement between you and Expenser regarding your use of the App.

2. Description of Service

Expenser is a mobile application that helps you track personal expenses by integrating directly with Google Sheets. The App allows you to:

  • Record and categorize expenses
  • Store data directly in your Google Sheets
  • Track expenses with multi-currency support
  • Generate reports and analytics
  • Set spending limits and budgets

Important: Your expense data lives in your Google Sheets, processed through Google's secure APIs. We don't store your financial data, only minimal preferences on our side for personalized experience.

3. User Responsibilities

3.1 Account Requirements

To use the App, you must:

  • Have a valid Google account
  • Be at least 13 years old (or the minimum age in your jurisdiction)
  • Provide accurate information when creating your account
  • Maintain the security of your Google account credentials

3.2 Acceptable Use

You agree to use the App only for lawful purposes and in accordance with these Terms. You agree not to:

  • Use the App for any illegal or unauthorized purpose
  • Attempt to gain unauthorized access to any part of the App
  • Interfere with or disrupt the App's functionality
  • Use the App to store or process sensitive data beyond personal expenses
  • Reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble the App
4. Google Services Integration

The App integrates with Google Sheets and Google OAuth. By using the App, you acknowledge that:

  • Your use of Google services is subject to Google's Terms of Service and Privacy Policy
  • You are responsible for maintaining access to your Google account
  • We are not responsible for any issues with Google services
  • You grant the App permission to read and write to your Google Sheets
  • You can revoke this permission at any time through your Google account settings

Data Ownership: You retain full ownership of all data stored in your Google Sheets.

5. Privacy and Data Protection

Your privacy is important to us. Please review our Privacy Policy to understand how we collect, use, and protect your information.

Key Points:

  • Your expense data is stored in your Google Sheets, not on our servers
  • We only store minimal user preferences in Firebase for personalized experience
  • We do not sell, rent, or share your personal information with third parties
  • You have complete control over your expense data through Google Sheets
  • You can delete your account using the "Delete Account" button in Settings, which removes your preferences and account information from our side
6. Intellectual Property

6.1 Our Rights

The App and its original content, features, and functionality are owned by Expenser and are protected by international copyright, trademark, and other intellectual property laws.

6.2 Your Rights

You retain all rights to your data stored in Google Sheets. We do not claim ownership of any content you create or store using the App.

6.3 License

We grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to use the App for your personal, non-commercial use in accordance with these Terms.

7. Disclaimers

THE APP IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EITHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO:

  • Warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement
  • Warranties that the App will be uninterrupted, secure, or error-free
  • Warranties regarding the accuracy, reliability, or completeness of any information

We do not guarantee that the App will be available at all times or that it will be free from errors or defects.

8. Limitation of Liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, EXPENSER SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO:

  • Loss of profits, data, or other intangible losses
  • Damages resulting from your use or inability to use the App
  • Damages resulting from any conduct or content of third parties
  • Damages resulting from unauthorized access to or alteration of your data

Our total liability to you for any damages shall not exceed the amount you paid for the App (if any) or $100, whichever is greater.

9. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Expenser and its officers, directors, employees, and agents from any claims, damages, losses, or expenses (including reasonable attorneys' fees) arising from:

  • Your use of the App
  • Your violation of these Terms
  • Your violation of any third-party rights
  • Any content you submit or transmit through the App
10. Termination

10.1 Termination by You

You may stop using the App at any time by:

  • Using the "Delete Account" button in Settings, which removes your preferences and account information from our side
  • Deleting the App from your device and revoking access through your Google account settings

10.2 Termination by Us

We may terminate or suspend your access to the App immediately, without prior notice, for any reason, including if you breach these Terms.

10.3 Effect of Termination

Upon termination, your right to use the App will cease immediately. However, your data will remain in your Google Sheets and will not be affected by the termination of the App.

11. Changes to Terms

We reserve the right to modify these Terms at any time. We will notify you of any material changes by posting the new Terms in the App and updating the "Last updated" date.

Your continued use of the App after any changes constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms. If you do not agree to the changes, you must stop using the App.

12. Governing Law

These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of Canada and the Province of Ontario, without regard to its conflict of law provisions.

Any disputes arising from these Terms or your use of the App shall be resolved in the courts of Ontario, Canada.

14. Severability

If any provision of these Terms is found to be unenforceable or invalid, that provision will be limited or eliminated to the minimum extent necessary so that the remaining Terms will remain in full force and effect.

15. Entire Agreement

These Terms, together with our Privacy Policy, constitute the entire agreement between you and Expenser regarding your use of the App and supersede all prior agreements and understandings.
